Train Scene

Elaine recalls her father (although not Amish) plowed the fields behind a workhorse before he purchased his first tractor in the mid-1940's. Then her dad was called "Hot Rod Farmer"!

Perhaps you've heard your Grandma reminiscence of riding through the countryside with her sisters in a country buggy.

The Portland Headlamp, the basis for this piece, has long served as a guide for sailors approaching Portland, Maine.

A close friend drew this scene as a special reminder of his father's years as an Engineer.

Dave grew up in a rural area near Columbus, Ohio. He had all the toys boys want — minibikes, dirtbikes - but he preferred to drive the neighbor's farm equipment while the farm boys played with his toys.  Elaine grew up on a small Jersey dairy farm in the rolling hills of eastern Ohio. Both are from families who were part of the early farm settlements of the Midwest.

During a motorcycle touring vacation through New England and the Maritime Provinces, Dave and Elaine passed the Portland, Maine Headlamp, as they took the overnight ferry from Portland, Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Elaine's interest in lighthouses led to her development of this silhouette, based on a photograph of the lighthouse scene.

Wind chimes are built from 12-gauge steel, sandblasted and hand drilled, powder-coated twice with copper vein and clear coat for durability indoors or out. Dave hand-assembles the chimes, using a ball-bearing swivel at the top and plastic-coated 30-lb. fishing wire.
